Anthem
Ah the wars they will be fought again
The holy dove she will be caught again
Bought and sold and bought again
The dove is never free.
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

- Anthem

like a drunk in some midnight choir, i have tried in my way to be free )
hihoplastic: (film - park; who you're waiting for)
Ohmygod. I have tears in my eyes. This is like...the best musical OTP I can think of right now. Leonard and Judy Collins. I used to listen to Judy Collins' lullabies when I was little. Every time my mom went away on business I would sing, I see the moon and the moon sees me, the moon sees the one that I long to see. I've always loved her. And they were friends. And I just found duets with Leonard. Of one of my favorite Leonard songs, Suzanne.

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by you can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy, but that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her that you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength and she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover and you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind and you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.

And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human, he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him and you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.

Now Suzanne takes your hand and she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers from Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey on our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed there are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her and you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.

- Suzanne

and this:

I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm,
your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm,
yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new,
in city and in forest they smiled like me and you,
but now it's come to distances and both of us must try,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.

I'm not looking for another as I wander in my time,
walk me to the corner, our steps will always rhyme
you know my love goes with you as your love stays with me,
it's just the way it changes, like the shoreline and the sea,
but let's not talk of love or chains and things we can't untie,
your eyes are soft with sorrow,
Hey, that's no way to say goodbye.

- Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye

I am completely overwhelmed.
