You: prompt me with a fandom/pairing/character + some kind of theme, word, lyrics, whatever.

I: will write you a 100 word drabble (at least) by Dec 31

* Anyone can request a drabble - friended or not, random passers-by and lurkers welcome.

* Primary fandoms: House, The Pretender
* Fandoms I will attempt to write in: Angel, Buffy, Sports Night, The West Wing, How I Met Your Mother, Firefly... whatever else I've seen? It's a short list, sadly.
* Crossovers are excellent.
* So is Cuddy. I will write Cuddy/anybody. ...I should probably put a disclaimer on that, shouldn't I?

Cuddy (House) & CJ (West Wing), "the way we love these sad, sad men of ours." (Which probably has an unspoken CJ/Toby assumption in it, and I don't even know if you lean that way.)

Just today I was thinking how Cuddy/House is so like CJ/Toby, in that these strong, powerful, confident women love these sad, sad men. I guess I'm predictable in my shipping.

I love CJ/Toby. I will have to do some serious West Wing re-watching, but. I'll do my best!

(Do you have any particularly good CJ/Toby eps to recommend?)
From: [identity profile] allthingsholy.livejournal.com
DO I HAVE ANY PARTICULARLY GOOD CJ/TOBY EPS TO RECOMMEND?! Only, like, A MILLION.

No, but seriously, yeah, I have (quite) a few.

ITSOTG2, for sure, where you see when CJ/Toby first start for the campaign, and then "The Leadership Breakfast" has some good CJ/Toby drama revolving around Ann Stark, and then "Manchester 1&2" I love because of the whole CJ in trouble, wanting to quit, Toby not wanting her to aspect, and then, OF COURSE, "Women of Quman" WHICH IS SO TOTALLY A FABU CJ/TOBY EPISODE (OMG HIS HANDS ON HIS HEART (SEE ICON!) AND "SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS TOBY"). "The Red Mass" and "Debate Camp" I both love (even though it's the beginning of the Andi gets pregnant storyline), and then "Holy Night" with Toby's dad ("He used to make lady's raincoats and before that he worked for Murder, Incorporated. ... Man, it really is snowing.") and "The Long Goodbye" just for that moment when she doesn't answer Toby's phone call and sleeps with Marco instead (BECAUSE THEIR LOVE IS LOST BECAUSE OF ANDI'S BABIES) and then (GOD!) "Evidence of Things Not Seen" ("I have faith in us." "You and me?" "And the people in this room." Jesus, it's so awesome.) and then "Twenty-Five" (and "Babies come with hats" & the way CJ presses her hand to her heart and it's SO FROM "WOMEN OF QUMAR").

And then season five was an abyss, except for "Full Disclosure," where Toby was the only one who knew that CJ had had a thing with Hoynes and they have all these beautiful moments, and god. Seriously.

And then S6&7 I'm not great on, except that "Drought Conditions" is, like, one of the greatest CJ/Toby eps EVER (Toby cries and CJ's there and "Can this be one of those nights we get drunk and forget we work together?"), and they have a tearful goodbye in "Mr. Frost" and "Here Today," as well as their REAL AND HONEST TO GOD GOODBYE in "Institutional Memory." "You show up here at 8 o'clock at night with a bottle of wine asking me about a pardon we both know is out of the question telling me about a man who's crowding you. I think a lot of things." "Jesus Christ, just watch it here.

...

That was maybe more than you were expecting? Sorry, they really are my very, very favorite ship of all time. I'm kind of a freak for knowing about that list, though, to be fair, I did have to look up the titles of all the episodes from the later seasons. Well, most of them. Some of them. A few.

I'm a tool. Anyway, I can wheedle that down some if you need me to. In fact, I probably will just for fun anyway.
From: [identity profile] allthingsholy.livejournal.com
And, just because I found it floating around YouTube, this scene is basically the entire reason I ship CJ/Toby and heart this show so hardcore. Man, remember when it was awesome? Season 6 really did step it up again.
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
OMG I just watched it and CUTE. CUTE. I really have no idea what they were talking about, but CUTE.

Now I just want to watch the whole damn series again.
From: [identity profile] allthingsholy.livejournal.com
Now I just want to watch the whole damn series again.

I know. I just watched most of the first season over again, and it is SO GOOD. This show, man. I can't even.

And yes, that's a good starter list, I think, though there are always more excellent eps I can recommend that aren't just CJ/Toby (The Crackpots & These Women, Take This Sabbath Day, Two Cathedrals, 100,000 Airplanes, Hartsfield's Landing, Bartlet for America, Posse Comitatus, Inauguration 1&2, Privateers, Life on Mars, The Supremes.) Please note that all recommended eps from from the first four seasons (with the exception of "The Supremes," which is the one S5 ep I remember not completely hating (except, also, "Full Disclosure"). I just don't know S6&7 well enough to recommend anything, though I think they were much better than S5.

Anyway. Yeah, I love this show a little bit too much.
From: [identity profile] allthingsholy.livejournal.com
ALSO, for a fab CJ/Toby episode, S3's "The Two Bartlets." "Butter butter butter butter butter butter butter." CJ's dad's Alzheimer's. No, really. Add it to your list.
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
NO WAY OMG THAT IS PERFECT. I've really wanted to rewatch some WW, but I don't have time to rewatch everything but I don't know it well enough to just randomly pick episodes so this. is. perfect. It will give me an awesome starting point!

This is totally my christmas break plan. OMG. So excited.

(And, mind you've I've only seen the entire series once through, but, Women of Qumar is one of the ones that stands out SO much for me. I LOVE that episode. God, Allison Janey is too amazing)

You know what? I totally want your version of Lyle/Cuddy. :D So:
The Pretender/House, Lyle/Cuddy, "there are things about him she doesn't question." Bonus points if you throw in Lyle/Parker and/or Parker/Jarod. Or, oh! House/Parker, lols.

*smirks*

From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
I should have seen that coming.

I'm trying to decide who would win - House or Parker. Hrm....

*plots*

I can make it srsly dark and f'd up right?

From: [identity profile] antiqueskies.livejournal.com
:D

Could you imagine if Parker was a patient? I wish I could write House's character, actually, because that would be really funny. And then Jarod would totally show up and make him look like an idiot.

I can make it srsly dark and f'd up right?
I would expect nothing less! Of course, if you can make it a humor fic I would be all for that, too. Lyle's just really hard to put into a humorous context....

From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
Lyle is really hard to WRITE, PERIOD. *whines* It's fast becoming all about Cuddy with a little bit of peripheral Lyle f'ing things up and House and Wilson trying not to act like they care except they really, really do and. Harumph.

I don't think I speak Lyle :(

Date: 2008-12-09 05:35 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antiqueskies.livejournal.com
Well, I don't speak Cuddy, so fair's fair. She was mostly in the background in mine as well.

Lyle is hard, because his motivations are never really known. I have a couple different versions I draw from depending on the tone of the fic/scene. (This is what happens when you write 20 stories about one character....) I think I've overanalyzed him to death.

Of course, what my ability to understand Lyle says about me is...something I'm not going to dwell on tonight. :D

Date: 2008-12-09 05:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
Hehee, that's exactly how I am with cuddy. It's damn near impossible for me to write anything nowadays that doesn't have cuddy in it. Failure, what?

I feel like, someday, we should try to cowrite a Lyle/Cuddy fic. With both our brains working on it, it'd probably be far too disturbing to ever post anywhere, but. ;)
Hehee. Not dwelling. That sounds like a good plan. Lalala.

Date: 2008-12-09 05:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antiqueskies.livejournal.com
Hey, I still have an open [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 claim on him that I do plan on eventually probably writing something for. (I'm not lacking ideas, just motivation....) Then it'll be 115 stories or something total, lols.

WE TOTALLY SHOULD. Omg, we'd scare everyone. HAHAHA.
No, actually, I think that's a brilliant idea. After writing Lyle/Cuddy I totally could have gone for more of them, but since I was the only one ever to write it...there wasn't any more. (And now I'm totally re-reading my own fic just to get a fix. Sigh.)

Date: 2008-12-09 06:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
100 Lyle fics?? Holy. Your brain is going to be even more warped after that... Hee.

I know! I always want to read Pretender/House crossovers... except there's only like, yours. Which, is wonderful, don't get me wrong. But I want mooooaoarr because I'm a greedy little bitch.

Do you want to write your holiday ficlet prompt together? I can send you the randomassity that I have so far... it truly is quite bad and makes no sense. But you could fix it! And we could make it epic.

Or we could start over. Either way.

I should so not be plotting this until after finals.... oh well. Fail.

Date: 2008-12-09 06:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antiqueskies.livejournal.com
I know, right?! LOL. It will be awesome.

We should like, make a community. And force people to join. And then force them to write us fic.
except there's only like, yours.
I KNOW. I hate having to read my own fic, but it's the ONLY THING OUT THERE.

I vote you write it yourself and we start over, just because I just looked at the prompts you gave me and I just got two separate ideas for House/Pretender crossovers. :D

Eh, that never stopped me either.

Edit: I do offer up my services on helping you work out what Lyle would do, though. His brain is a scary place.

Date: 2008-12-09 02:48 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
Hehee. Okay! That sounds good. So does the community/forcible writing by unassuming individuals.

I may take you up on that. Bah. Lyle. Why you so deep?

Date: 2008-12-09 08:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] antiqueskies.livejournal.com
:D We are evil.

Lyle doesn't seem that complicated until you try to write him. Then you're like, "Whaaaaaat?" Haha.
Anyway, just let me know. I'm just hangin' around, watching BSG all day, every day. :D I have time to spare.

I want to be cool and request and awesome crossover, but I just... am not good at that. :( So! House/Cuddy, so far so good.

OOH, OR WAIT A SECOND. What if Barney was a patient at PPTH? IDEK, if it sparks you, go with it!

Date: 2008-12-04 07:01 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
Hmmmm I will have to think about the Barney one! (In all honesty, I'm not sure I can write Barney. He's TOO epic. But I will try!

...or I'll stick with House/Cuddy ^^

CUDDY!!!

Um, more specifically, CUDDY/ANYONE WHO ISN'T HOUSE!!

Or, like, Cuddy/Wilson, prompt: Tahiti

Or Kutner/Taub Cuddy/Kutner, language barrier.

Or Cuddy/Amber, clubhouse.

Or Cuddy/Robin Sherbatsky, good girls don't.

Or Cuddy/Faith, MADE OF HOT.

:)?

HORRAY FOR NO HOUSE! In fact, House will not even be mentioned.

Ooh, girlslash... SHINY.

(I still owe you a Cuddy/13 post apocalyptic road trip. I'm working on it, I swear. I just - have no apocalypse. It's sad.)

YAAAAY! There is, I feel, not enough Cuddy girlslash in the world.

(That is sad. D: Where is the apocolypse when you need it! (I think we've had this conversation before. I think zombie dinosaurs were mentioned.))

Cuddy, content. Any character of your choice can feature. Yes, I'm being vague.

From: [identity profile] bilyana.livejournal.com
Huh, watch me being spoiled for choice and totally overwhelmed... hmm... I'd love to see some Firefly (Mal/Zoe, but rather gen than het actually, or Mal/Inara). Or West Wing (any pairing, really, although any CJ involvement would be nice). And can I just throw some prompts at you and you pick whatever suits you?: illusions, wind, tipping point, impatience, black, projection,
Now that was vague, but I'm just not able to decide...

Ack, no Cuddy! How shall I survive?

I'm planning a WW rewatch over Christmas break, so hopefully that will give me some inspiration. Thanks for playing! :D

Okay. So. How about something Cuddy/Cam/Thirteen/Amber/Stacy (any combination, your choice) FRIENDSHIP. I'd like to see the women in this show as something other than rivals. I'm so tired of professional women unable to friend each other. UGH.

Date: 2008-12-07 03:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hihoplastic.livejournal.com
I should have seen that one coming! You and your women ;)

I agree, though. This show is so bad about women!bonding.

Now I just have to think of a reason for them to bond...
